We chose a soft planting palette of whites and blues to create a pretty, romantic atmosphere, with the occasional pop of colour provided by bolder pinks and reds. The soft yellows of Alchemilla mollis and lush green foliage were used to anchor the scheme and a variety of shrubs were included to add fragrance and extend flowering across the seasons. Elsewhere, small trees helped to connect the space to the wider landscape.
Paths leading from the house guide you to the main terrace, with further paths crossing to the evening terrace and a small productive garden. To soften the view, the paths were set within the planting and limestone and clay pavers were used to form a connection with the house. A contemporary horizontal trellis used for growing much-loved Roses, Clematis and Wisteria, was introduced to enclose the space and create a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the beautiful planting.
